Olympia Family & Maternity Photographer

Olympia has such a special charm—nestled on the southern end of Puget Sound, it offers beautiful waterfront views, a lively downtown, and a family-friendly community that makes it a wonderful place to raise little ones. As an Olympia newborn and maternity photographer, I love working with families here and capturing the joy of new beginnings, whether it’s a maternity session by the water, a cozy newborn session in my studio, or family portraits that celebrate your unique story.

When it comes to outdoor photography, Olympia has so many scenic locations. Percival Landing Park is a favorite with its waterfront boardwalk, sailboats, and views of the Capitol building in the background. For something more natural, Priest Point Park offers wooded trails, mossy trees, and plenty of space for children to explore. Burfoot Park is another hidden gem, with beach access and tall evergreens that make for a gorgeous backdrop at any time of year.

If you’re dreaming of golden-hour maternity photos, Heritage Park and Capitol Lake provide beautiful water views, while Tumwater Falls Park is a peaceful setting with waterfalls, bridges, and lush greenery. Families who want wide open spaces often love Yauger Park for its relaxed atmosphere.

For those who enjoy nature and dramatic landscapes, Tolmie State Park offers beach access, forest trails, and stunning views of Puget Sound. Another breathtaking option is the Nisqually Boardwalk at Billy Frank Jr. Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge, where the long wooden path stretches over wetlands with mountain views on a clear day—perfect for maternity sessions and family portraits with a truly unique backdrop.

My cozy Lake Tapps photography studio is about an hour’s drive from Olympia. Designed specifically for newborns and expectant parents, the studio is warm, quiet, and baby-friendly—equipped with soft wraps, tiny outfits, and a calm atmosphere so you can simply settle in and enjoy the experience. Whether you’re booking a newborn session, maternity portraits, or milestone photos, the studio provides a stress-free environment where I can focus on capturing timeless, heartfelt images of your family.

If you’re making the trip up from Olympia, a quick stop in Tacoma or Puyallup can be a fun way to break up the drive—there are plenty of great coffee shops and bakeries along the way.

Whether we’re photographing your maternity session at Priest Point Park, exploring the shoreline at Tolmie State Park, walking the Nisqually Boardwalk, or creating newborn portraits in my Lake Tapps studio, my goal as an Olympia maternity and newborn photographer is to preserve these fleeting, beautiful moments so you can look back on them for years to come.
