Issaquah is a truly special place for families—surrounded by lush forests, mountain trails, and scenic views that capture the best of the Pacific Northwest. With its small-town charm and easy access to both Seattle and the Cascade Mountains, it’s no wonder so many families love calling Issaquah home. As an Issaquah newborn and maternity photographer, I’m always inspired by the natural beauty here and the stories families share, whether it’s afternoons at Lake Sammamish, hikes up Tiger Mountain, or weekends exploring nearby North Bend.

When it comes to maternity and family portraits, Issaquah has an incredible variety of backdrops. Lake Sammamish State Park is a local favorite with its sandy shoreline, open fields, and tall trees that create a relaxed and playful atmosphere. Cougar Mountain Regional Wildland Park offers wooded trails, sweeping overlooks, and that tucked-away feeling for families who love being surrounded by nature. And for a peaceful waterfront setting, the shores around Lake Sammamish at Tibbetts Beach make a beautiful choice.

Just a short drive east, North Bend offers even more breathtaking scenery. With dramatic mountain backdrops like Mount Si and Rattlesnake Ridge, wide open valleys, and rushing rivers, it’s one of my favorite places to capture portraits that feel both adventurous and timeless. The landscapes in North Bend add a grand sense of scale and natural beauty to family and maternity sessions, all while being easily accessible from Issaquah.

My Lake Tapps studio is about 50–55 minutes from Issaquah, and it’s designed with families in mind. The studio is warm, calm, and thoughtfully prepared with everything you need—from newborn wraps and cozy blankets to comfortable seating for parents. It’s a wonderful option if you’d prefer an indoor setting or want a stress-free space for your newborn session.

Whether we’re photographing along the shores of Lake Sammamish, hiking the trails of Cougar Mountain, or capturing sweeping mountain views in nearby North Bend, my goal is always to create heartfelt, timeless portraits that reflect your family’s story.
